Rickie Fowler Wins The Players Championship
Published at | Updated at(PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla.) — Rickie Fowler rallied back and got himself into contention after 12 holes on Sunday to win in the first ever three-hole playoff in THE PLAYERS Championship.
Fowler went 6 under during his last six holes and held off Sergio Garcia and Kevin Kisner in the three-hole playoff to take home his second career PGA Tour win.
Fowler would need one more hole to knock off Kisner.
“It was almost like nothing to lose,” Fowler said. “I was out of the golf tournament through 12 holes today and we managed to fight our way back in.”
Fowler’s last tour win came at the 2012 Wells Fargo Championship.
“It feels good to be back in that position,” said Fowler, when asked about finally getting another win. “I’m hoping to be back in this same position more often.”
