The extraordinary reach of Microsoft Cortana

The voice assistance program is Microsoft’s alternative to Apple’s Siri and performs a wide array of functions on desktop computers and mobile devices. At present the software will only be offered to American customers and is English-only.
The English version also will be available in Australia, Canada, India and Japan in the coming months, according to Engadget.com. Foreign language versions will be out later this year.
