UPDATE: Steffany Snell’s charged were updated late Monday to misdemeanor injury to a child, according to the Idaho Repository.

IDAHO FALLS — Steffany Snell, 19, is facing charges for felony injury to a child after her eight‐month‐old infant was found home alone early Sunday morning.

Idaho Falls Police report Snell had previously been booked in the Bonneville County Jail after being arrested for driving under the influence earlier that morning.

The Idaho Falls woman had left her child at home for a few hours to go to a party, police spokeswoman Joelyn Hansen said. Idaho State Police officials said she was arrested and taken into custody in Idaho Falls at about 2 a.m.

A family member called police for a welfare check after Snell was arrested, Hansen said.

According to reports, officers were dispatched at 3:40 a.m. to the 800 block of Whittier Circle for a welfare check on a baby. Upon arrival, officers found Snell’s eight‐month‐old child asleep in his crib. No one was home.

The baby was in good health  and no medical attention was needed.

After the incident the baby was placed in the custody of his grandparents.
