RIGBY — Nicknamed “Ellen’s only boyfriend,” 9-year-old boy Tayt Andersen has a remarkable history with the host of the Ellen DeGeneres Show.

The Rigby boy, born with rare heart condition, once again returned to the show on Monday, Nov. 2, but this time he had a new heart.

Tayt was born premature with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, Hydrocephalus, and Spastic Paraplegia. Only one in 50,000 children are born with these conditions and most don’t survive.

Tayt received a heart transplant in June and has been successfully recovering at his Rigby home. The boy received worldwide media attention after he appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2011. The talk show host heard about the Rigby boy after learning he had two wishes: go to Disneyland and meet his “girlfriend” Ellen DeGeneres.

After his first appearance, DeGeneres invited Tayt back on her show several times. She’s donated money to his family and surprised Tayt with a trip to Disneyland. DeGeneres refers to Tate as being her “only boyfriend.”

Over the weekend, a video posted on Ellen’s website shows Tayt and his mother, Chrissy Andersen, reunited with the talk show host for the first time since his surgery.

When asked how he feels, Tayt said, “I feel better because I got a new heart!”

DeGeneres surprised the family with a $20,000 check from Shutterfly and a new Ford Edge Sport SUV.
