IDAHO FALLS — Police have released a photo of the man they believe robbed a gas station Saturday morning.
Detectives say the man walked into the Phillips 66 gas station on the corner of Rollandet and 17th Street around 9:00 a.m.
The store clerk told police he picked up a soda and candy and brought it to the counter. As the clerk rang up the items, police say the man pulled out a knife and demanded money from the cash register.
The clerk gave the man money and he fled south on Rollandet.
Later this afternoon, around 2:15 p.m., a robbery occurred at the the Wells Fargo ATM at 1798 Hitt Rd.
Idaho Falls Police spokeswoman Joelyn Hansen said she cannot confirm at this time if the robberies are related.
Shortly after the ATM robbery, numerous police officers swarmed the Sleep Inn at 3200 Outlet Blvd, near the Sunnyside exit of Interstate 15.
“A car matching the description of the vehicle used in a gas station robbery this morning is parked here at the motel,” Idaho State Police Sgt. Chris Elverud tells EastIdahoNews.com.
At this point, no one has been taken into custody.
