DAILY FORECAST: Warm and breezy with a continued flood watch

  Published at  | Updated at

IDAHO FALLS — This weekend’s flood watch is set to expire during the late afternoon on Monday, March 13.

Minor flooding southwest of Roberts is occurring with water flowing and/or standing on roads. A section of Jefferson County is under a flood advisory, which means significant flooding is imminent or already occurring. Flooding is expected to stay mainly in rural areas of south central Jefferson County, according to the National Weather Service.

The flood watch encompasses most of eastern and central Idaho and was put into effect due to continued high temperatures in the upper 40s and 50s, which is causing rapid snow melt. Some minor flooding is being reported in low-lying areas and near homes in various parts of eastern Idaho.

The following cities are under the flood watch: Burley, Rupert, Heyburn, St. Anthony, Ashton, Island Park, Driggs, Victor, Idaho Falls, Rexburg, Pocatello, Malad City, Oakley, Rockland, Henry, Soda Springs, Downey, Lava Hot Springs, Preston, Montpelier, Hailey, Ketchum, Bellevue, Arco, Challis, and Mackay.

No major road closures are being reported as of 8 a.m. Monday.
