KUNA — A 4-week-old baby boy was attacked by a dog and seriously injured while at home Monday morning.

Kuna police were called to the house in the Linder Road/Sagwon Drive neighborhood just after 10 a.m.

A woman who lives at the home told officers she had placed the boy in a baby swing in the living room while she loaded items into her truck in the garage, according to a news release from the Ada County Sheriff’s Office.

The woman told detectives she checked on the boy between trips to the truck and everything appeared fine until the last trip, which lasted about four minutes. She then walked into the home and saw the baby on the ground visibly injured.

The woman has three dachshund dogs and determined one of them climbed up to the swing, possibly by jumping onto nearby furniture. The dog attacked the baby and knocked him to the ground.

Paramedics were at the home and treating the boy when officers arrived. He was then rushed to the hospital.

The owner told detectives the dog did not have a history of aggression or biting.

The case is still under investigation and no charges have been filed as of Wednesday. The condition of the baby has not been released.
