IDAHO FALLS — A Pocatello newspaper publisher will be taking the helm of the Idaho Falls Post Register.

Andy Pennington was announced by Minnesota-based Adam Publishing Group as the new leader of the Idaho Falls newspaper on Tuesday, according to a report in the Post Register.

Pennington has been publisher of the Idaho State Journal in Pocatello since 2012, and has remotely overseen the Upper Valley Standard Journal in Rexburg and Teton Valley News in Driggs for the past several years.

Pennington expressed his excitement about the expanded role in the Idaho State Journal Tuesday.

“The strength of our shared efforts will ultimately be to the benefit of our communities, audiences and our employees in eastern Idaho,” Pennington said in the Idaho State Journal.

Pennington replaces Roger Plothow, who has served as the Post Register publisher since 2002, according to the Post Register.

Plothow will stay with Adam Publishing Group and has been named president of Adams Publishing Group’s Signature Events, a new division focused on planning policy-based events throughout Idaho and other western states.

Adams Publishing Group bought the Post Register in 2015. Earlier this year, Adams also purchased Pioneer News Group, which included the Idaho State Journal, Upper Valley Standard Journal, Teton Valley News, Jefferson Star and the Idaho Press-Tribune, among others.
