38-year-old killed in northern Idaho crash

The following is a news release from Idaho State Police.

On March 9, at approximately 8:41 p.m., the Idaho State Police responded to a fatal crash northbound US 95 at Boekel Rd.

Cory Kreager, 35, of Priest River, was traveling eastbound on Boekel Road in a black 2008 Ford F350 when he failed to stop at the stop sign. He impacted Vern Allen, 74, of Cocolalla, who was traveling northbound on US 95 in a gold 2003 Dodge Caravan.

Kreager impacted the van on the driver’s side and Ryan Allen, 38, of Cocolalla, was ejected from the vehicle. Ryan Allen was pronounced deceased at the scene. All the occupants of both vehicles were wearing their seatbelts.

Vern Allen and his passengers, Patricia Allen, 71, of Cocolalla, and Troy Allen, 51, of Sandpoint, were transported to Kootenai Health.

Alcohol is suspected to be a factor and the investigation is ongoing.
