RIRIE — The Idaho Transportation Department says a crash is blocking a portion of U.S. Highway 26 east of Rire.
The call came in around 1:15 p.m., Idaho Falls Fire Department spokeswoman Kerry Hammon said. When first responders arrived, those involved declined medical services.
Witnesses report poor visibility on the road, especially near the Clark Hill rest area.
ITD says the road is blocked between the Clark Hill rest area and Birch Creek Road. Swan Valley Fire personnel are still on the scene.
Eastern Idaho remains under a wind advisory, with winds reported between 40 and 60 mph across the region. The incoming storm also brought snow this afternoon.
ITD says officials have closed Idaho Highway 33 between Tetonia and Ashton, as blowing and drifting snow have made travel on the road nearly impossible.
