AMMON — A 27-year-old man was arrested Saturday after Bonneville County Sheriff deputies were called to Walmart for a report of a burglary.

Walmart employees called dispatch around 3:10 p.m. to report a man had left their store with two TVs, loaded them into a pickup truck and drove away. Staff advised that the man was a suspect in multiple previous thefts from the store.

Moments later, deputies discovered the suspect’s vehicle leaving a business behind the Edwards Theater Complex as it headed into the neighborhood on South Eagle Drive. Deputies stopped the vehicle and identified 27-year-old Brandon M. Jones as the driver.

He appeared to be under the influence of some type of narcotics and first told deputies he bought the TVs online, according to a news release. Jones then pleaded with the deputies to let him just return the TVs to the store.

Deputies placed Jones under arrest and found drug paraphernalia indicating heroin and methamphetamine use inside the vehicle along with around 2 grams of methamphetamine.

Walmart employees retrieved the TVs from Jones’ vehicle and he was taken to the Bonneville County Jail. Jones was booked for felony charges of burglary and possession of methamphetamine along with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Jones was also issued citations related to his expired Driver’s License and vehicle registration and failure to provide insurance.
