“The flight is scheduled to depart here at about 9 a.m. and arrive in Boise at 10 a.m,” Airport Director Rick Cloutier said in a news conference. “It will return in the evening from Boise around 7 p.m. (and) arrive back here about 8 p.m.”

The last time Alaska Airlines served Idaho Falls to Boise was in 2010, according to Cloutier.

“Alaska Airlines has made a commitment in Boise. They added additional new routes today to many cities around the country. So with our flight leaving here, you will be able to have a one-stop connection to dozens of cities like California and the west coast as far east as Chicago and Austin, Texas. This will really help connect us to the world,” said Cloutier.

Alaska Airlines announced they will begin year-round, daily flights to Idaho Falls and Las Vegas from Boise. With the additional routes, they’ll fly up to 36 daily departures from Boise to 15 destinations by next summer – all nonstop. Click here to learn more.

Cloutier said the Idaho Falls Regional Airport has five airlines, an average of 15 departures a day and 13 nonstop destinations. The five carriers include Allegiant Air, Delta Airlines, Alaska Airlines, United Airlines and American Airlines.

The airport is undergoing a $12 million expansion project, adding an additional 38,000 square foot addition to the passenger terminal. The project includes two new terminal gates and a new jetway. The airport is also moving the TSA screening and check-in area as well as adding a new area for a TSA PreCheck line. The project originally was scheduled to be finished in the summer but has been delayed and should be completed by the end of the year.
