TETONIA — A woman died and a man was rushed to the hospital following a crash west of Tetonia Thursday afternoon.
It happened at the junction of Highway 33 and Highway 32 around noon.
The driver of a Chevrolet Malibu was traveling westbound on Highway 33 when it hit a Mazda sedan traveling southbound on Highway 32, according to a news release from the Teton County Sherriff’s Office. Officials say the sedan did not yield and entered the road.
Occupants in both vehicles were injured including a man and woman who were taken to Teton Valley Hospital. The woman later died, the sheriff’s office says. Their names have not been released.
Highway 33 was closed for over an hour.
This is the third fatal crash in Teton County this month. The first one occurred on July 8 near Highway 33 and Rigby Road. The second happened July 19 near 4000 North Highway 33.
“The Sheriff’s Office encourages all residents and visitors to obey all traffic laws and please fasten your safety belt,” the news release says. “The Sheriff’s Office would like to recognize and thank Teton County Fire and Rescue and the Idaho Transportation Department for their efforts during this incident.”
