Spirit Halloween will not be coming to Idaho Falls this year but will come to Rexburg, Pocatello

IDAHO FALLS — Even though Halloween is 81 days away, trying to find a costume might look a little different this year after a popular seasonal store will not be in Idaho Falls due to difficulty finding a location.
With over 1,400 stores across the United States, Spirit Halloween is known for having temporary locations during the spooky season. The one-stop shop for women’s, men’s and kid’s costumes in eastern Idaho is typically known for having locations in Rexburg, Idaho Falls and Pocatello.
However, this year has changed for Idaho Falls after searching high and low for a space.
“There is just not any commercial real estate available. We were going to be in the Lane Bryant (location in Ammon) but the Ammon library took over that space. When a full-time tenant can take over it, we get bumped out just because we are temporary and so full term gets priority,” said Amanda Cockerill, store manager for Spirit Halloween.
Cockerill said she normally manages the Idaho Falls store and the store would have opened this Friday. Though this year, she is managing the Rexburg store and it’s opening on Friday in place of the Idaho Falls store.
“I know the company is still actively looking for something this year (in Idaho Falls) but it’s looking really slim. But I know they want to find a more permanent location,” she explained.
Cockerill said the company began looking for an Idaho Falls location months in advance.
“We have always been able to find a location. We haven’t been able to find anything else because it’s just getting taken,” she explained. “Idaho Falls has always been our high volume store. I know it’s a pretty big loss for the company.”
Cockerill said she hopes people will want to see them and still support Spirit Halloween this year.
“I hope (people) will still come to either Rexburg or Pocatello. I know it’s a bit of a drive but we have some pretty awesome stuff set up for this year and I think it would just be kind of a bummer if people missed out on it this year,” she said.
Spirit Halloween in Rexburg is located at 125 Valley River Drive. Spirit Halloween in Pocatello is located at 1776 Hurley Drive and should open within the next week or two. Click here for more information.
