Man appears in court after reportedly molesting young boys

IDAHO FALLS – A man appeared in court Monday after allegedly molesting two young victims when they were between the ages of 5 and 10 years old.

Caden Leroy Coles, 19, was charged with one count of felony lewd conduct with a child under 16 after police learned of an incident that occurred in June 2016. He has not yet pleaded to the charge.

As part of a separate case, Coles was charged in March with felony forcible penetration by use of a foreign object against the victim’s will, felony aggravated battery, and felony injury to a child. He pleaded not guilty to those charges and is scheduled for a November jury trial. The probable cause affidavit was sealed, meaning little detail about that case is available.

It’s unclear if the two cases are related.

In the most recent case, Idaho Falls Police were dispatched to a home in Idaho Falls after reports that there had been sexual abuse of minors.

The reporting party said two brothers had disclosed that a man, identified as Coles, had been molesting them. Their experiences were very similar.

When officers interviewed the two boys, one of the boys said he was “not comfortable telling (the officer) the details of what occurred between him and (Coles).”

The other boy told police that “(Coles) allowed him to play with his cell phone in exchange for the sexual acts he committed with him.” The boy said Coles forced him to perform oral sex and a variety of other sex acts. He told officers it happened “lots of times.”

Coles is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Oct. 14.

Though Coles has been charged with these crimes, it does not necessarily mean he committed them. Everyone is presumed innocent until they are proven guilty.

If convicted, Coles could face life in prison.
