SHELLEY — Idaho State Police responded to a large vehicle fire on the interstate after someone called 911 to report the blaze.

The fire happened Tuesday night. ISP responded around 11:15 p.m., and a local fire department came to put the fire out. It happened at milepost 108 near Shelley on Interstate 15.

“Nobody was on scene with the vehicle. It was abandoned at the time, and we are doing a follow-up to figure out who it belongs to and what it was because it’s burned past recognition,” said ISP Lt. Marvin Crain.

It’s not clear how long the vehicle had been abandoned. No injuries were reported.

In a video provided to EastIdahoNews.com by a viewer, you can see the vehicle engulfed in flames with a trail of black smoke. As the viewer passes the vehicle, she says, “Holy crap, I can feel the heat!” Watch in the video player above.

The vehicle was towed off, and troopers cleared the scene after midnight. Crain said ISP is following up on the investigation Wednesday.
