POCATELLO – A 36-year-old man was charged after he reportedly tried to hide fentanyl pills in his anus to sneak them into the jail.

Patrick Mosho was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, two counts of felony introduction of major contraband into a correctional facility, felony possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, felony possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor resisting or obstructing officers, and misdemeanor use or possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia.

On Jan. 9 around 3:35 p.m., several members of the Bannock Area Drug Group Enforcement Squad (BADGES) were in the area of South 4th Avenue and East Clark Street when a detective saw a 2024 Ford Mustang turn illegally from Clark Street onto 4th Avenue.

According to court documents, the Mustang continued “slowly rolling for an extended period of time, ultimately stopping in the alley behind the business plaza located at 301 South 4th Avenue.”

An officer with the Pocatello Police Department responded to the stop with a detective.

The passenger was identified as Mosho, and the officer deployed his K9 partner to perform an open-air sniff around the car. The K9 indicated that there were illegal drugs in the car, and the officer began searching the inside.

Officers reportedly found a “deformed blue Bic brand pen casing with visible residue and discoloration inside of it.” They also allegedly found a piece of charred aluminum foil with a partial blue pill stuck to it.

The detective recognized the pill to be a counterfeit Oxycodone pill believed to contain fentanyl.

In the passenger’s door, officers also found “a cosmetic bottle that the label had been worn off.” An officer pried the lid off with a knife, where they say “residue from more blue pills” was found.

During an interview with Mosho, he reportedly admitted to using fentanyl within the last two days but denied having anything with him at the time.

When told what was found in the car, he reportedly “nodded his head” but did not verbally respond.

Mosho was then taken to the Bannock County Jail. During the intake process, officers allegedly found a concealed bag in his anus.

Once the bag was found, Mosho allegedly physically fought with the detention deputies and damaged one of their body cameras.

Inside the bag, officers found a small, clear bag containing 1.1 grams of a substance that tested presumptive positive for methamphetamine, along with a bag containing 148 blue pills that later tested positive for fentanyl.

Mosho was booked into the Bannock County Jail on a bond of $50,000. He posted bail and was released on Jan. 17.

Mosho is expected to appear in court on March 19 for a preliminary hearing. If convicted, he could face up to life in prison.

Though Mosho has been charged with these crimes, it does not necessarily mean he committed them. Everyone is presumed innocent until they are proven guilty.
