ARCHER — A trailer fire in Archer was a total loss Wednesday, resulting in over $100,000 in losses and damages.

According to a news release from the Madison Fire Department, firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire at 293 West 9000 South at 9:10 a.m. Wednesday.

The fire was called in by a neighbor who, along with other neighbors, used garden hoses to try to stop the spread of the fire. No one was injured.

When firefighters arrived, the first crew began evacuating neighboring trailers, and a second crew began protecting the structures of the adjacent homes.

The single-wide trailer was a total loss and a second single-wide trailer sustained some minor damage.

Total loss and damages are estimated to be $100,000 between the two trailers.

The Madison Fire Department sent two engines, two water tenders, an ambulance, and two command vehicles, with 15 fire personnel working the fire scene.

Deputies from Madison County Sheriff’s Office and the Chaplains of Idaho also provided assistance.

No firefighters were injured, and crews are still on scene performing overhaul.

Madison Fire Department Deputy Chief Troyce Miskin says the cause of the fire is unknown and an investigation is ongoing.

“This is an unfortunate incident and we are so sorry for the loss that took place today,” says Miskin in the release. “But we’re grateful no one was injured. We are also grateful we were able to save one adjoining structure and minimize damage to another.”

The Madison Fire Department reminds the community that they are always looking for local community members to become certified and join the fire department.

“This fire was located a short distance from our volunteer station in Archer, and we have a great need for more trained firefighters/EMTs in the Archer area,” says Miskin in the release.
