New details released about fatal crash near Spencer

The following is an updated news release from Idaho State Police:
Idaho State Police is investigating a single fatality crash that occurred on Oct. 23, at approximately 5:09 p.m., on southbound I-15 at mile post 183, north of Spencer.
A white 1996 Dodge van, driven by a 77-year-old female and 76-year-old male passenger from Lethbridge, Canada, were driving southbound on I-15. The van drove off the left side of the road and came to rest in the northbound left lane.
The driver was wearing a seatbelt and was transported via ground ambulance to the local hospital.
The passenger was not wearing a seatbelt and succumbed to injuries at the scene.
The left lane of northbound I-15 was blocked for approximately 4 hours.
Idaho State Police was assisted by Clark County Sheriff’s Office and Clark County EMS.
This incident remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

SPENCER – A man is dead following a rollover crash near Spencer Thursday evening.
Clark County Sheriff Mark McClure tells EastIdahoNews.com it happened around 5:15 p.m. at milepost 182 about two miles north of Spencer. A couple from Canada was headed south in a van.
McClure did not release the names of the people involved, but he says the driver was tired, veered off the road and overcorrected. The van ultimately flipped over, throwing the man inside. He died on scene.
The woman was taken to the hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
The northbound lane of traffic was blocked for about 45 minutes while emergency responders investigated. The lane has since been reopened.
The crash remains under investigation. McClure is grateful to those who assisted, including Idaho State Police and local EMS crews.
