WILSON, Wyo. – A Wyoming county coroner has identified two people who were killed after a dump truck lost control on the Teton Pass on Tuesday.

Teton County Coroner Brent Blue identified the deceased as:

  • David Thompson Page, 57, of Mammoth Lake, California
  • Nicholas Czernichow Besobrasow, 66, of Tetonia, Idaho

According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, troopers responded shortly before noon to a crash on Wyoming Highway 22 near milepost 6.8 on the Teton Pass.

Troopers reportedly learned that a dump truck hauling asphalt had been descending the pass when the driver lost control and collided with a motorcycle, two pickup trucks, a Subaru and another vehicle before overturning and coming to rest on its side.

Jackson Hole Fire/EMS responded and transported four patients with minor to moderate injuries to St. John’s in Jackson.

Page and Besobrasow were pronounced dead at the scene. It is not clear which vehicles they were in.

Preliminary investigation by troopers says a brake failure on the dump truck was a contributing factor in the crash.

Responding agencies included Air Idaho, Jackson Hole Fire/EMS, Jackson Police Department, St. John’s Medical Center, Teton County Coroner’s Office, Teton County Emergency Management, Teton County Sheriff’s Office and Wyoming Highway Patrol.

“The Wyoming Highway Patrol would like to extend our deepest sympathy to the families of those who died in this collision,” says a news release from the Wyoming Highway Patrol.
