REXBURG (Homestead Senior Living) — Residents at The Homestead Senior Living are picking up paintbrushes and discovering new artistic talents through a beginner-friendly watercolor painting class that’s quickly becoming a highlight of the community’s activity calendar.

The class, designed for all skill levels, introduces seniors to the fundamentals of watercolor painting in a relaxed and supportive environment. Participants, from those who have never held a brush to residents with some artistic background, are encouraged to explore their creativity at their own pace.

The sessions focus on teaching a variety of watercolor techniques, including color blending, brush control, layering, and creating texture. Residents learn how to bring simple landscapes, flowers, and seasonal scenes to life using these methods.

“This class is really about enjoying the process,” said the instructor. “Watercolor can feel intimidating at first, but once you understand a few basic techniques, it becomes very freeing. Everyone here is doing an amazing job.”

“I didn’t think I was artistic at all,” one resident shared. “But now I look forward to every class. It’s relaxing, and I love seeing what everyone creates.”

The program’s beginner-friendly approach ensures that no one feels left behind, with step-by-step guidance and encouragement throughout each session. Laughter and conversation often fill the room as residents compare their paintings and celebrate each other’s progress.

For many residents, the watercolor class has become more than just an activity—it’s a chance to try something new, build confidence, and find joy in creativity.
