US Marshals arrest robbery suspect in Idaho Falls

IDAHO FALLS — The U.S. Marshals have arrested a man in connection with a robbery in Meridian after they located him in Idaho Falls.
Francisco Salazar was wanted in connection with a March 16 robbery of a Meridian residence, during which a firearm was reported stolen.
An arrest warrant was served on Salazar in Ada County on May 7, according to a news release from the U.S. Marshals. On May 11th, the U.S. Marshals Service learned that Salazar had left the Treasure Valley area.
On Monday, the U.S. Marshals Task Force received a tip that Salazar was in Idaho Falls. Task force members from the Ada County Sheriff’s Office, Chubbuck Police Department, Rexburg Police Department, and the Idaho Falls Police Department joined the federal agency in its effort to locate and arrest Salazar.
On Tuesday, the investigation led task force members to a residential area of Idaho Falls, where they reportedly saw Salazar and followed him to an unoccupied area near the Walmart in Ammon.
Task force members anticipated that Salazar might try to run from officers, the release states, so they deployed a distraction device, such as a flash bang, which successfully de-escalated the situation and allowed Salazar to be taken into custody safely.
