Police say 18-year-old man jumped through window to escape being caught having sex with a minor girl

POCATELLO — After jumping out of a window to avoid being caught, an 18-year-old is facing multiple felony charges after he allegedly had sex with a 15-year-old girl.
Ignacio Josu Iturrios Celis has been charged with three felony charges that include lewd conduct with a minor under 16, rape and sexual abuse of a child under 16.
According to Idaho’s Crime Repository, Celis has applied for a public defender, but one has not been listed for him. The Idaho State Public Defender’s Office does not comment on active cases.
The probable cause affidavit states that on Aug. 22, at around 5 p.m., an officer with the Pocatello Police Department responded to a report of a sexual assault of a juvenile girl.
Speaking with the victim, she identified the suspect as an 18-year-old named “Iggy” whom she met on Snapchat.
“Iggy” was later identified as Celis.
After agreeing to meet, the victim told Celis she was 15 before meeting him at her residence.
Climbing through her bedroom window, the victim described that the pair were lying in bed and began kissing, but that Celis started to grope her.
She recalled Celis saying “I know I shouldn’t do this!” multiple times.
The document states that as Celis began to assault the victim sexually, she told Celis she was uncomfortable and told him to stop. She said that Celis said he did not want to and continued the assault.
It was during the assault that the victim’s mother knocked on the door, and Celis got off the victim and ran out through the window. The victim recalled that Celis also took the condom with him.
Later that day, Celis met with the officer at the Pocatello Police Department for an interview about the allegations.
After he was advised of his Miranda Rights, Celis agreed to speak with the officer, who said that he only cuddled with the victim, denying that anything sexual had occurred.
Celis later admitted to having sex with the victim multiple times, but told the officer that he believed the victim was 16 or 17. Later, he said he knew she was 15.
Celis is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 2 at 9:45 a.m. before Magistrate Judge David Hooste.
Though Celis has been charged with these crimes, it does not necessarily mean he committed them. Everyone is presumed innocent until they are proven guilty.
