Veteran-owned Cowpoke Coffee is serving up ‘utterly delicious’ ways to start your morning
Published atIDAHO FALLS — If a locally-sourced, veteran-owned stop for your morning coffee sounds up your alley, this new spot may be the place for you.
The ‘utterly delicious’ Cowpoke Coffee, owned by Taylor Jensen, offers locally roasted coffee, soda, and everything you need to start your day right.
“My husband was in the military, and he was stationed in Oahu, Hawaii. My first job there was at my first barista job on Pearl Harbor,” says Jensen. “It just became a passion. I liked coffee, grew up liking coffee, and then one day for fun we were like, ‘What if we opened up a coffee shop?'”
Jensen was kind enough to let EastIdahoNews.com come try three of her most popular coffee drinks, and let me tell you. From a coffee addict’s point of view, this place is the real deal.

First, we tried the Banana Bread.
This iced coffee includes banana, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Reminiscent of one of my favorite baked goods, it’s slightly fruity, sweet, creamy, and would definitely help kickstart my morning on a high note.
“I don’t like fruit in coffee, but banana pairs really well, so it’s shocking,” says Jensen. “Don’t knock it till you try it.”
Next, we tried the Side Saddle.
This iced coffee includes white chocolate and pistachio. I think I have to officially claim this as my favorite. I love an iced white chocolate mocha, and something about the pistachio added an exciting extra flavor that took it over the top.
“I’ll have like 12 cups in here, and we’re just trying stuff,” says Jensen. “If we don’t like them, we dump them out.”

Lastly, we tried the campfire.
This iced coffee is a mocha with caramel and toasted marshmallow. Just like the name insinuates, this drink tastes like a s’more on a summer night. It’s sweet, but not too sweet, and iced cold.
“Anytime someone asks, ‘What’s your top 3 (drinks)?’ These are always the recommendations,” says Jensen.
