IDAHO FALLS — The resident of a mobile home was injured, and their pet died in a fire at a local mobile home park on Sunday morning.
Crews from the Idaho Falls Fire Department were called out to the home at approximately 10:07 a.m., when emergency dispatchers began receiving reports of black smoke coming from a mobile home park just east of U.S. Highway 91 and West Sunnyside Road.
When they arrived, firefighters located a resident in the home and went in to rescue that person, according to a statement from Hayli Egbert, the fire department’s spokesperson.
“Crews provided emergency medical care before the individual was transported to a local hospital,” Egbert said.
Information about the patient’s identity or current condition was not available on Sunday afternoon.
Egbert said that after the resident was transported, the fire was quickly doused, but the home and all its contents have been deemed a total loss.
Firefighters also found a dog in the home that did not survive the fire, Egbert said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
