$250K in damage after home goes up in flames near Idaho Falls

The following is a news release from the Idaho Falls Fire Department.

IDAHO FALLS – The Idaho Falls Fire Department responded to a significant structure fire Friday night, Sept. 11, northeast of Idaho Falls near North 75th East.

The call came in at approximately 9:16 p.m. reporting that a manufactured home was fully engulfed and that the fire had extended to the front porch.

When crews arrived, the home was fully involved, with numerous small explosions occurring inside the structure. Firefighters immediately began attacking the fire while additional resources were brought to the scene. Northbound traffic was temporarily shut down to help control traffic and allow fire apparatus to safely access the area.

The fire extended to the adjacent property, burning several trees and an area of dry grass between the two homes and reaching the neighboring residence. Firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading further into the adjacent home.

The involved home and two vehicles were a total loss. Following the initial fire attack, crews conducted extensive overhaul and mop-up operations to fully extinguish remaining hot spots and ensure the fire was contained.

There were no reported injuries. One resident was evaluated by EMS crews for possible smoke inhalation but declined treatment and transport.

The estimated total property loss is approximately $250,000. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
