Hunger in eastern Idaho: Understanding food insecurity and how we can help
Published atAcross the U.S., September is Hunger Action Month and the Riverbend Awareness Project had the opportunity to learn more about food insecurity from Cassey Leatham, the Idaho Food Bank’s regional director for eastern Idaho.
She discussed what food insecurity really is and how it can impact anyone. It could be a coworker struggling with the rising costs of essentials, a senior neighbor on a fixed income, or a working family trying to make ends meet.
The Idaho Food Bank, along with its community partners, help lift the community and in turn the community can help lift them. Donating time, food or finances are all extremely vital contributions that keep the food bank and its partners running. It’s also important to spread the word about available resources so people can know where to find help
