BOISE (Idaho Statesman) — A Boise man has been sentenced to up to five years in prison after police found him in possession of 51 firearms early this year —- none of which he was legally allowed to own.

Anthony Buhler in July entered a plea deal for one count of unlawful possession of a firearm, according to court records.

In October, Judge Derrick J. O’Neil sentenced Buhler to up to five years in prison, with the possibility of parole after one year, and credited him with three days served. Buhler was also ordered to pay a fine of $1,500, along with over $200 in court costs, according to court records.

A search warrant led to Buhler’s arrest in January, after Boise police found evidence that a suspect with felony convictions was in possession of stolen firearms. At Buhler’s residence, police found 51 firearms, 10 of which had been stolen, the Statesman previously reported.

In 2002, Buhler was convicted of aggravated assault, according to court records. Other convictions, including theft and possession of a controlled substance, date back to 1995, the Statesman previously reported.

In Idaho, it is a felony for convicted felons to own or possess a firearm. The crime carries a prison sentence of five years and a $5,000 fine.

Buhler faced two other counts of unlawful possession of a firearm that were dropped in accordance with the plea deal.

Buhler is currently in custody at the Idaho Department of Correction, where he will be eligible for parole in September 2027, according to online prison records.
