BLACKFOOT — A semi-truck crashed through a guardrail and crossed the median on Interstate 15 early Monday morning after being struck by another vehicle that drifted into its lane, according to Idaho State Police.
The crash happened around 2 a.m. in the southbound lanes near milepost 95, just north of Blackfoot.
A 28-year-old man from Rupert was driving a red 2002 semi-truck southbound when an unidentified vehicle entered his lane and struck the truck, according to a news release from Idaho State Police.
The impact sent the semi through the southbound guardrail, across the median and into the concrete barrier and guardrail protecting the northbound lanes.
The truck driver was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries, ISP said. He did not need to go to the hospital.
The crash blocked northbound lanes for about four hours and southbound lanes for approximately six hours as emergency crews responded and cleared the scene.
The Bingham County Sheriff’s Office assisted Idaho State Police. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact ISP.
