REXBURG – Just in time for the temperature outside to drop, Sasquatch Lemonade has come to the rescue with warm ciders and “Bigfoot” hot chocolates for those chilly mornings, and crisp, cold lemonade for the warm afternoons.

Mirisha and Spencer Bogardus, the owners of Sasquatch Lemonade, recently moved to the area and started a small business with a specific goal.

“We’re trying to build our dream house, and a future for our children,” says Mirisha. “We feel like this will be good to teach them about business, but also for them to see that this is how we reach our dreams. This is how we’re able to do these wonderful things.”

The Bogarduses were generous enough to make us four of their featured drinks to try. First, we tried the Moonlit Pear Cider, a warm, sweet way to enter fall.

“Our ciders are made in-house,” says Mirisha. “So it’s not just apple juice or anything. We add spices and actually make cider. We have our pear one, that’s the most popular.”

Next, we tried the peach lemonade, which Mirisha says is a fan favorite so far.

It was perfectly sweet and not overly so, tasted fresh, and was perfect for the crisp autumn air.

“We did convert some people to lemonade through this one,” says Mirisha. “We don’t want any extra sugars or anything like that, so we do the bare minimum on that. We do offer sugar-free as well.”

Afterward, we tried the huckleberry lemonade, which Mirisha says is a staple for this location.

It was subtly sweet and tasted like fresh berries, which was highly welcome.

“I’ve gone to places that offer cider, and it’s usually packet cider, the powdered ones where you add hot water,” says Mirisha. “I thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be fun to be a chemist in the kitchen and kind of put this stuff together and make it so everyone can enjoy a warm drink?”

Lastly, we tried the Forbidden Forest hot chocolate, my personal favorite. This drink includes steamed Darigold chocolate milk, toasted marshmallow flavoring, white chocolate flavoring, and hazelnut flavoring – the perfect mix to add together for when it’s not quite winter, but you still need a quick warm-up.

“It’s our most popular hot chocolate,” says Mirisha. “All of our flavorings that we use have no artificial dye in them, so none of that red 40 or anything.”
