RIGBY — Don your cloaks, grab your staffs, gather your adventuring party and head down to Krupp Scout Hollow this Friday for the inaugural Wildwood Fantasy Faire.

The fantasy faire will run from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Krupp Scout Hollow is located at 688 North 4200 East in Rigby.

Ticket prices vary by age: general admission starts at $7; ages 3 to 7 are $5, and ages 2 and under can enter for free.

Co-organizer Heather Rose, a local author and owner of the Salty Maiden Book Wagon, told EastIdahoNews.com that she met the event’s other co-organizer, Nichole Price, as well as vendors, at the Thornshire Renaissance Fair.

Rose said the idea came about after she missed attending an event like that, and she wanted to host a similar one in the fall, when the weather would be more favorable for being outside in costumes.

Partnering with Price, who owns Nichole Rosalie Events, the two began contacting other vendors in the area to see if they were interested in hosting the event. With Price’s background, Rose said that this has made organizing an event like this possible.

On TikTok, Rose said she wasn’t expecting much engagement, but has gotten thousands of views from locals.

“That’s really what gave us the boost to be like this; it seems like something people want,” Rose said. “We’re having huge amounts of positive response, so let’s try it.”

Taking inspiration from the annual Thornshire Renaissance Faire in Rigby, Rose said the goal of this event is not to replace it, but to give folks a chance to get out and get lost in fantasy before the weather gets too cold to be outside.

At the inaugural event, people can expect around 40 vendors, various food stalls, storytellers and free quests for folks to engage with some of the actors or vendors.

Each vendor will have a different game, either a simple task like drawing something or a short game, and participants will receive a stamp, with a reward for collecting all required stamps.

Rose said the actors will have small trinkets or joke around with event-goers, like a trash troll that asks children to collect litter and, in return, gives silly or nonsensical advice.

Cosplay is fully encouraged, but Rose asks folks to remember this is a family-friendly event. Aside from that, there is no limit to what can be cosplayed, so dressing up as Star Trek cast members is welcome.

Overall, Rose wants to thank everyone participating in the Wildwood Fantasy Faire, as well as those who have been sharing the event on social media.

“It’s been about two months since we started (planning) this,” Rose said. “Any spreading of the word is hugely appreciated.”
