Maryland mother says man is living in local sewer and harassing her children

BALTIMORE (Courtroom Insider) — A Maryland mother has accused an unidentified man of living in a sewer near her home and harassing her children, but she says law enforcement told her there was nothing they could do.
Unique Wiggins told CBS News that when her children first told her about the man in the sewer, she didn’t believe them.
“It was a Friday, and my daughter who is 21 called, and she was panicking. And I asked, ‘What’s wrong?’ And she said, ‘Mom, I’m scared. The man told me I can’t walk right here and to just dip.’ And I’m like, ‘What man?’ And she was like, ‘The man in the sewer,'” told the outlet.
After her children told her about the “sewer man” several times, Wiggins said she decided to investigate for herself.
The Daily Mail reports that Wiggins went to the sewer system near her home, and heard someone singing. The outlet says she yelled down to him, “Leave my f***ing kids alone!”
The man, who according to the Daily Mail has not been identified, told Wiggins to tell her children to leave him alone.
Wiggins told The New York Post she called the police to report the “sewer man” after he allegedly chased her children. Law enforcement, however, told her that because the sewers are public property, there wasn’t much they could do.
“I don’t feel like I’m protected. I don’t feel like my kids are protected,” Wiggins told the Post. “I’m not saying this gentleman should necessarily go to jail, but he should not live in the sewer. He should not be able to be down there.”
Law enforcement eventually arrested the man, according to De Ultimo Minut, but the outlet says he was released on Oct. 13. A “provisional peace order” was put in place, but it expired after authorities were unable to locate the man to serve him.
