Road reopened after person reportedly hit by car in Shelley

SHELLEY — Police are asking the public to avoid an area in Shelley after a person was allegedly hit by a car on Thursday morning.
According to a Facebook post from the Shelley Police Department, people are being asked to avoid the area west of Hanson Avenue on 1400 North due to a vehicle-versus-pedestrian accident.
Idaho State Police Lt. Todd Orr says around 7:50 a.m., a 44-year-old man from Shelley was leading a horse westbound on East 1400 North when he was struck by a grey 2022 Toyota Camry driven by a 33-year-old man from Shelley.
The 44-year-old was transported to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls by ambulance.
The Idaho State Police and Bingham County Sheriff’s Office are currently on scene investigating the accident.
Officials ask that drivers use an alternate route and avoid the area while emergency personnel work the scene.
