GRACE — Family and friends of Logan Corta are mourning his death and raising funds for his widow after he was accidentally electrocuted in Caribou County this week.

The 23-year-old died Thursday “in a sudden and tragic accident while working on the farm,” according to a GoFundMe page organized by a family member.

“Logan was at home in the saddle and out in the open country, he worked hard from sunup to sundown, and he lived by a code of honesty, grit, and quiet kindness,” the GoFundMe page says.

The electrocution happened shortly after noon on Thursday, at the intersection of River Road and Smith Road, south of Grace, according to a news release from the Caribou County Sheriff’s Office. Neither the release nor the GoFundMe page gave details about how it happened.

The sheriff’s office said first responders found Corta unresponsive with “severe injuries,” and he was immediately transported to a nearby hospital.

“Despite the exhaustive efforts of emergency personnel, he was tragically pronounced deceased at the hospital,” the release said.

Corta leaves behind a wife, Maniah Corta, and countless family members and friends who loved him, his family said.

“Nothing can bring Logan back or take away the heartache of this situation. But this fundraiser can help make sure Maniah and the family are not carrying this alone,” the GoFundMe page states.

Family members say all money raised will go to Corta’s widow to help with funeral expenses, medical bills and anything else she needs to help her through this sudden loss.
