Brazilian Presidential Candidate Killed in Plane Crash
Published at(SANTOS, Brazil) — A plane crash appears to have taken the life of Brazilian presidential candidate Eduardo Campos on Wednesday.
BBC News reports that the crash occurred in a residential area amidst bad weather. In addition to Campos, four other passengers and two pilots were killed in the crash.
In a statement, National Security Council spokesperson Caitlin Hayden said that the White House was “deeply saddened” by the crash. “We extend our profound condolences to the family and other loved ones of the deceased and to the people of Brazil,” the statement read.
Campos had been considered a serious candidate in October’s election.
