“Saved by the Bell” Cast Members React to Lifetime’s “Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story”
Published at(NEW YORK) — If you watched Lifetime’s The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story, which aimed to show what really went on behind-the-scenes of one of TV’s most popular sitcoms, and you thought it was fact — think again. The story, told mostly through former cast member Dustin Diamond’s eyes, is getting some push back from some of his former co-stars.
Diamond, who played Screech on the once popular TV series, also produced the film. In recent years, his former co-stars have distanced themselves from him.
Lark Voorhies, who played fashionista Lisa Turtle in Saved by the Bell, tweeted early Tuesday morning, “I did not watch, and will not watch.”
Mario Lopez, who played jock A.C. Slater, tweeted his own thoughts saying: “Sept 30th you’ll get an accurate idea of SBTB #JustBetweenUs.” He accompanied the post with a photo of the book cover for his forthcoming memoir, Just Between Us. The book will reportedly feature stories never before shared of Lopez’s time on the Saved by the Bell set.
The other castmembers from the show, which was centered on a fictional high school, have yet to speak out about the TV film.
Saved by the Bell aired from 1989 to 1993.
