Wall Street Soars After Release of Fed Minutes
Published at | Updated at(NEW YORK) — Wall Street rebounded from a tough start to the week by posting major gains on Wednesday, buoyed in part by a decision by the Federal Reserve to stick with existing plans to keep short-term interest rates low for the near-future.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 274.83 to finish the day at 16,994.22.
The Nasdaq jumped 83.39 to 4,468.59, while the S&P 500 closed a 1,968.89, a gain of 33.79 from its opening value.
The Federal Reserve on Wednesday released the minutes from its last meeting, in which the decision was made to keep short-term interest rates low. While the minutes showed some debate, they also indicated that no fundamental shift in policy is imminent.
