“The Walking Dead” Reaches New Ratings High with Season-Five Premiere
Published at(NEW YORK) — The Walking Dead is more popular than ever, if the ratings for the fifth-season premiere are any indication.
Sunday’s new episode drew a series-high 17.3 million viewers. The previous best for the AMC drama was the 16.1 million who tuned in to the fourth-season premiere a year ago.
AMC also notes that The Walking Dead outperformed its competition, including NBC’s Sunday Night Football, in the advertiser-coveted 18- to- 49-year-old demographic, with 11 million adults.
The Walking Dead after-show Talking Dead, featuring Conan O’Brien as a guest, pulled in 6.9 million viewers. It was the highest-rated premiere yet for the program.
