Markets Climb Following Positive Unemployment Report
Published at | Updated at(NEW YORK) — Wall Street finished a week of gains on a positive note Friday, following a positive jobs report.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 19.46, closing at a new record 17573.93.
The Nasdaq slipped 5.94 to a finish of 4632.53, while the S&P 500 edge up to 2031.92, gaining 0.71 and finishing at a new all-time high.
For the ninth consecutive month, the monthly jobs report showed solid growth. The U.S. Labor Department released data showing the creation of 214,000 jobs in October. The National unemployment rate fell to 5.8 percent.
