UN Secretary General Condemns Attack in Somalia
Published at(NEW YORK) — United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon condemned on Friday an attack on the African Union Mission in Somalia.
The Thursday attack took place at the Mogadishu International Airport, and resulted in the death of three soldiers from the African Union Mission in Somalia and a civilian contractor. Ban “conveys his sincere condolences to the families and friends of those who have lost their lives, and wishes a swift recovery for the injured,” he said in a statement.
Ban also praised the quick response of AMISOM and expressed relief that U.N. staff in Somalia are safe.
AMISOM blamed terrorist group Al Shabaab for the attack.
