sirastock/iStock/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — Days after a hack that could affect as many as 80 million current and former customers, health insurer Anthem warned customers to be aware of phishing emails that could try to use their email addresses to acquire additional personal information.
The warning mentions the possibility of fake emails meant to look like they come from Anthem instructing individuals to click a link for credit monitoring services. Anthem warns customers, who may be wary about identity theft, not to fall for it.
The insurance company says it will send credit monitoring information through the mail, and not electronically.
