Chicago Bears Release Ray McDonald Following Domestic Violence Arrest
Published at | Updated at(SANTA CLARA, Calif.) — The Chicago Bears released Ray McDonald on Monday after the defensive lineman was arrested earlier in the day on domestic violence and child endangerment charges.
McDonald was arrested at approximately 7 a.m. local time in California for allegedly assaulting a woman “while she was holding a baby,” according to Santa Clara police.
“We believe in second chances, but when we signed Ray we were very clear what our expectations were if he was to remain a Bears,” general manager Ryan Pace said in a statement from the team. “He was not able to meet the standard and the decision was made to release him.”
