‘It’s a Small World After All’ Songwriter Robert Sherman Dead at 86

GETTY E 030612 RobertSherman?  SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1331040452736Mychal Watts/WireImage(LONDON) — Robert B. Sherman, the man who wrote the Disney classic tune “It’s a Small World After All,” has died.

According to a posting by his son on his Facebook page, the songwriter passed away Monday in London.  He was 86.

Sherman, along with his brother Richard, also wrote Disney standards including “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,” from Mary Poppins and many other classics from films such as The Sword in the Stone, The Jungle Book, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Charlotte’s Web and others. Sherman also penned songs for TV shows and variety specials. 

For his work, Sherman won two Oscars and a Grammy, and with his brother was honored in 1976 with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
