Santana Almost Perfect Against Arizona
Published at(ANAHEIM, Calif.) — Angels starter Ervin Santana was perfect for 6 2/3 innings as Los Angeles shutdown the Arizona Diamondbacks Saturday night, 2-0.
Diamondbacks outfielder Justin Upton broke up Santana’s perfect game bid with a single to center, with two outs in the seventh. It would be the only hit the right-hander would give up in tossing a complete game shutout.
Angels outfielder Mark Trumbo would provide all the offense Santana would need with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning.
Santana is now 4-7 on the year with a 5.16 ERA.
