Brent and Shannon Hummer have eight children ranging from 2-16 years old. A few months ago, Brent was diagnosed with an extremely rare and aggressive form of cancer called Mucinous Adenocarcinoma. This cancer attacks the body in various locations and Brent has a mass growing around his bladder and bowels. He recently had over 70 lymph nodes removed from his body.

Despite this huge trial, the Hummers do not feel sorry for themselves and they do not want anyone else to either. After Brent was diagnosed, Shannon posted on Facebook: “Hard is Good.” She spoke of many other big trials she and Brent have experienced including infertility, several children with special needs, moving many times, unemployment and a baby with multiple heart defects.

The Hummers have pleaded with their friends and family members to not feel sorry for them. She says, “We do not have time for pity, doubt, or questioning of why God did this to us. We are saving our energy for faith, hope, and love.”

Secret Santa thought the Hummers could use a special Christmas gift this year so he sent the EastIdahoNews.com elves over with a surprise. Watch the video above to see what happened!
