Flood watch issued in parts of eastern Idaho
Published at | Updated atPOCATELLO — The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Wednesday and Thursday in southeastern Idaho.
Officials say warmer temperatures will push into southeast Idaho Wednesday night, and snow will begin to change to rain, according to the NWS forecast. Temperatures will continue to rise Thursday, which will accelerate snowmelt. This could lead to water collecting in low-lying areas below 5,500 feet.
The following communities may be impacted: Shoshone, Richfield, Carey, Pocatello, Blackfoot, American Falls, Shelley, Fort Hall, Burley, Rupert, Heyburn, Oakley, Albion, Almo, Malta, Rockland, Holbrook, Inkom, McCammon, Downey, Lava Hot Springs, Malad, Preston, Thatcher, Grace, Soda Springs, Henry, and Bone.
Officials warn water may encroach onto roads and storm drains may become blocked.
