Youkilis Carries White Sox Past Old Team
Published at(BOSTON) — Chicago White Sox third baseman Kevin Youkilis hit his first home run at Fenway Park as a member of a team other than the Boston Red Sox, as the White Sox (50-40) defeated the Red Sox (46-45), 7-5.
Youk’s three-run shot in the fourth put Chicago up for good.
“He’s just showing off now,” White Sox manager Robin Ventura said. “He’s just rising to the occasion for us and being in big spots. I think there’s something when you get traded, there’s something to prove and that all goes into it with a lot of people that’s happened to. Coming back here, not that he says anything, but it’s nice for him to get in those situations and come through.”
Youkilis now has four home runs and 20 RBIs since joining Chicago on June 25.
