Washington Redskins Sign Robert Griffin III
Published at(NEW YORK) — The RG3 era can officially begin in Washington. The Redskins signed rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III on Wednesday to a four-year contract, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
“Well people….It’s Time to go to Work!!! Off the unemployment line and oh yea HTTR!!!!” Griffin tweeted early Wednesday morning.
Griffin will receive $21.1 million guaranteed, according to league sources, and will start.
“He’s the starter. Period,” Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said.
Washington will kick off their 2012 season on the road against the New Orleans Saints on September 9. Redskins’ fans will get their first look at Griffin III in preseason on August 9 against Buffalo.
