Snowstorms forecast throughout eastern Idaho for Thursday and Friday

IDAHO FALLS — The weather is getting messy in eastern Idaho, with moderate to heavy snowfall forecast throughout the region on Thursday and Friday.
The National Weather Service has issued winter weather warnings, and winter weather advisories for the entire region, from the Montana border to the Utah border. The advisories also extent into surrounding states.
Lower elevation areas, including the cities and towns of Rexburg, Rigby, St. Anthony, Terreton, Idaho Falls, Blackfoot, Fort Hall, Shelley, Firth, Pocatello, American Falls, Burley, Cary and Shoshone can expect snow to start falling around 5 a.m. Thursday until 5 p.m. Friday. About two to six inches of snow are expected.
Higher elevation areas, such as Hailey, Lava Hot Springs, Swan Valley, Sun Valley, Preston, Tetonia, Bellevue, Rockland, Victor, McCammon, Downey, Ashton, Island Park, Albion, Ketchum, Soda Springs, Kilgore, Malad, Wayan, Copper Basin, Driggs, Bone, Inkom, and Picabo can expect snow during the same time period. Between four and 19 inches of snow are forecast.
Many of the passes between Idaho, Wyoming and Montana will be particularly hazardous, with some passes expecting up to 20 inches of snow, according to NWS.
Weather officials ask travelers to use caution on the roads during the storms. Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous.
