SODA SPRINGS — A Caribou County Sheriff’s deputy is reportedly being investigated regarding the abuse of a K9.
According to Caribou County Sheriff Adam Mabey, an investigation has been ongoing for several weeks into the mistreatment of a K9 by its handler.
“There’s questions in regards to the treatment of the canine,” Mabey told EastIdahoNews.com on Monday.
Mabey says he expects the investigation to be concluded within the coming weeks.
Due to it being an active investigation, Mabey was unable to provide any more detail into the allegations of animal abuse. It is unclear whether the deputy will be terminated or criminally charged if the allegations are proven true.
According to the Caribou County Sheriff’s website, the office currently employs a chief deputy, a lieutenant, a sergeant and five patrol deputies.
